Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter in Red Velvet

Excuse Me...You've Got Some Red Velvet On Your Lips

Oh Revlon lip butter...how I love thee:)  You make my lips so nice and juicy.  Okay enough of my jibber-jabber let's get to the review and pics.

Like the Revlon lip butter in Raspberry Pie, I would also describe Red Velvet as a tinted lip balm on steroids.  It leaves a great wash of color on the lips and also moisturizes.  If you are someone who doesn't like a matte red lip or you hate the feel of lipstick this product is for you.  Its gives a great amount of color and also gives the lips a slightly wet look.  It looks as if you are wearing a gloss but without the sticky feeling.  The shade is perfect for fall and the upcoming holiday season.  Its a deep red that I think will suit a variety of skin tones.

Since this is more of a tinted lip balm it will not leave a strong stain so reapplication is necessary after food or drink.  Its definitely not a long wearing lipstick. It is however perfect for day time use and for a fun night out.  Before applying this I would recommend exfoliating the lips and if you have mature skin try it out at home to make sure there is no bleeding on the lip lines.  You can also try applying lip liner to extend the wear time.  I think everybody's different so you have to learn what works best for you.

Revlon Raspberry Pie ColorBurst Lip Butter

Shiny Berry Lips for Fall
*Purchased

Revlon lip butter in Raspberry Pie ($7.49 for 0.09 oz.) is a medium dark berry pink with loads of shine.  I would basically describe this as a tinted balm on steroids.  This stuff packs a punch.  Its super pigmented and the color pay off is better than any other tinted balm I've ever used.  When I tested this out, I was suffering from severe dry lips and I'm happy to say that this stuff is really moisturising.  I definitely saw my lips increase in volume due to the moisture from the lip butter.

I would still suggest exfoliating before wearing this and if you have mature lips I recommend using a lip liner to prevent feathering.  I have rather small lips and I did find it kind of tedious to apply because of the oval lipstick shape.  I guess I'm just one of those girls who likes the tradition pointed lipstick bullet.  This is definitely one of those lipsticks you need to apply with a mirror or else you could end up with a clown face.  Since this is a highly pigmented balm and it glides very easily on the lips, the wear time will be shorter.  Its not a long lasting lip color.   The end result is a very shiny lip so if your looking for matte berry stain, I would not suggest this particular product.  If glossy plumped up lips is your goal then this is your lipbutter:)

I was searching around in my makeup bag and I think I found a decent lip pencil match:  NYX Lipliner Pencil in 836 BLOOM.

Revlon Nail Polish in Blue Lagoon

ALERT: Possible Chanel Nail Polish Dupe!!!

According to Revlon: Revlon Nail Enamel gives up to 10 days of

lasting color & shine!

Blue Lagoon: Beautiful cool toned pastel baby blue shade with a iridescent/pearlescent finish.  Its got a soft sheen without being overly sparkly.  No glitter clumps.  Possible dupe for Chanel Coco Blue or Chanel Riva.  Wears beautifully on my hands without looking too chalky and I'm shade NC35.

Revlon Blue Lagoon
Please excuse my scruffy bottle!
Just picked up this goooooorgeous fun summer color from the mall here in Mumbai (India - I'm temporarily  here for work). These are also available in USA.

Blue Lagoon is from the Summer 2011 Les Romantics Collection.  Some people have even suggested that Blue Lagoon is a DUPE for Chanel's Coco Blue or Chanel's Riva.  I do not personally own either of the chanel polishes but I have seen pictures and they appear to be quite similar in color.  I cannot give you a personal opinion on Chanel's consistency.

However, I can tell you about Blue Lagoon's consistency and ease of application...not so great. (waa-waa). It required three coats to get the full coverage and even then I found it to be slightly streaky.  Its a shame because the color is so beautiful!!! If not for the streakiness this might have made it to my top ten nail polishes simply because the color is sooo lovely.  I hope Revlon reformulates this product and reintroduces it because it really is a unique blue shade that looks great on a wide variety of skintones.

Nevertheless, if you have patience and don't mind applying a few coats of polish then you should try this out.  As much as I love me some Chanel, the price tag on Revlon's Blue Lagoon is much more attractive to me and within my budget:)
